Prevention Programs

School-based

The Prevention Educators at Hamilton County Community Services are dedicated to providing evidenced-based programs, which have been developed, tested and found to be both cost effective as well as effective in deterring substance abuse and other problem behaviors, for students in grades Pre-K thru 12. These programs are designed to help increase social and self-competency skills and awareness of the harmful health, social and psychological consequences of drug use.

Article 9.46 New York State Mental Hygiene Law (effective March 16, 2013)

All mental health practioner's should be aware that Article 9.46 MHL involves reporting a name to a database for gun control purposes. 9.46 MHL is a reporting statute only; it does not trigger any other action and will not help a mentally ill person receive emergency services.

In the event of an emergency (imminent risk of harm to self or others), call 911 or follow your established procedures for urgent or emergent situations requiring immediate action.

H.O.P.E Line

The H.O.P.E. Line is available to residents of St. Lawrence & Hamilton Counties

7 Days a Week from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, as well as Saturdays from 2:00PM to 6:00 PM

H.O.P.E. Line is a toll-free telephone line staffed by people who are current or former recipients of mental health services.

We are an alternative support line for individuals struggling with stressful life experiences.

Trainings

Each client has different needs and it is our duty to complete a skills assessment to determine what trainings may be available to advance their opportunities in the job market.  These trainings can be found and set up by our OneWorkSource representatives.

 

Employers

We would like to promote local employment by developing an available public posting of jobs located within the area.  Prospective employee resumes and skills profiles may be reviewed at our location, or with certain identity restrictions, they may be mailed or faxed to your business for you to review.

We also would like to become a larger supporter for the continuation of secondary education (High school diploma or equivalent), and post-secondary education (Certificate courses, Associate’s Degree or higher). We can help manage the financial burden, upon the client, by researching financial aid information, and different organizations that provide scholarships to those in need.
